Senator Rick Scott Urges Maduro to Flee

(MENAFN) US Senator Rick Scott expressed the belief that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s time in power is running out and suggested that he should consider leaving the country.

Speaking to a news agency in an interview published on Sunday, the Florida Republican remarked, "If I was Maduro, I'd head to Russia or China right now."

Scott further emphasized that Maduro’s "days are numbered" and foresees a major shift happening either within Venezuela or through external forces. When asked directly if the US was preparing to invade Venezuela, Scott dismissed the notion, stating that he didn’t expect such an action, adding, "If we do, I'd be surprised."

These comments come amid rising military tensions in the region. On Sunday, a US warship arrived in Trinidad and Tobago, signaling increased pressure from the Trump administration on Venezuela.

Earlier in October, President Donald Trump had authorized CIA operations inside Venezuela, which heightened the situation further.

Scott also suggested that the removal of Maduro would lead to "the end of Cuba," claiming that "America is gonna take care of the Southern Hemisphere."

While acknowledging that American public sentiment regarding foreign interventions is cautious due to "war fatigue," he also noted that it could be possible for international forces to step in "if they needed to."
